We left Cambridge at 3:30am Friday morning & drove to Wellington.... 7 hours later we arrived in the city.Friday was spent getting to know the Bride & Groom & their families & checking out locations for photos on the off chance that Wellington's weather might actually be fine!Saturday morning 7am start... First up the Bridal parties preparations, 3 bridesmaids, one flower girl, several aunts, sisters etc & one very laid back Bride who insisted that everyone else be made-up & have hair done first. Then the Groom's party arrived ... which was a riot that last for about 2 hours.finally the Tea Ceremony where gifts were given from the Bride's family to the Bride & Groom. We moved on to the Groom's hotel where they had another Tea Ceremony for his side of the family. It was all change then after some quick portraits in their traditional Chinese wedding attire into their Kiwi style outfits. Her dress was just beautiful with a long train & intricate embroidery & he wore a white suit with silver trim. The ceremony was held in one of the function rooms at the hotel & everyone managed to squash in.... our first wedding that featured a violinist with a mohawk!!After the ceremony & some mingling we did the formal portraits of the families etc on the staircase as the Wellington weather true to form was terrible! At the reception every guest received Chinese love dolls as favours, these were so cute ... little wooden painted dolls & each pair was different.Speeches, cake cutting, first dance it all went well.We had heaps of fun & all the guests had a great time ... although I think they were some very tired people the next day as the partying went well into the night. We left at 11pm to drive straight home & when we left they were just getting started on the serious partying! All in all it was a fabulous wedding & we wish the happy couple a lifetime of happiness & good fortune.
